About "Day 261":
In some years, calendar quirks cause one day that is normally scheduled as a work day to be the 261st work day on a 260-day calendar. Our Collective Bargaining Agreement - and the School District's budget - call for a negotiation to determine which day will be declared "Day 261." In practice, the day is selected by vote of PSE members, usually by OHSD e-mail.That day is a no work/no pay day for 12-month employees. Day 261 does not affect less-than-12-month classified employees.
Based on agreements with OHSD,
- The 261st "work" day for the 2009/2010 School Year is July 6th, 2010.
- The 261st "work" day for the 2010/2011 School Year is December 27, 2010.
- Although those school years have a "Day 261"
- Calendar Year 2009 did not have a "Day 261."
-
Calendar Year 2010 has two days designated as "Day 261."
- one for School Year 2009-2010
- one for School Year 2010-2011
