What is a Building Representative?

A Building Representative is your first contact in matters involving union, personnel, and disciplinary situations (or potential disciplinary situations). Your Building Representative works near where you work, and is available to
  • answer questions
  • accompany you and assist you in possible disciplinary actions
  • relay your questions to union officials
Building Representatives are elected for one year terms - or appointed if no one is elected.
Note: If your building doesn't have a Building Representative, you might not have an advocate for your rights.

What is a Trustee?

Trustee is a member of the board that governs the union.
Trustees are elected, by classified employees of the same craft, for one year terms - or appointed if no one is elected. Trustees direct the activities of the union's officers (not the other way around). Trustees' activities are proscribed in the By-Laws.

Note: if your craft doesn't have a Trustee, you are not being represented in YOUR Union's business.

What is a PSE Field Representative?

Our PSE Field Representative is our liason to PSE of Washington. The Field Rep advises and assists in local activities such as contract negotiations, grievance hearings, elections, general meetings, and Trustees' meetings.
