New Business

• Discussion of President’s job. Tony Silveira wants to step down.
• Duties discussed:
• Attend Contract Maintenance Meetings
• Preside over Trustee’s Meetings; vote as an officer
• Ex officio member of all committees
• Does NOT have to be involved in all union activities, grievances, etc
• Resources available:
• PSE Leadership Academy
• Printed materials
• Field rep, Zone Director
• Legal staff at Auburn
• Discussion of Paraeducators’ testing
• Title I paras must meet qualifications by 1/8/2006
• There are several ways to qualify: pass exam, have AA degree, submit portfolio of experience
• Currently, the district will reimburse the cost of a successfully passed test for Title I Paraeducators
• PSE/OH has scholarship funds available
• District has some test prep materials
• Contacts for Paraeducator Apprenticeship: Trudy & Rita
• Tim Cahill briefly discussed contract bargaining: 13 meetings so far.

Unfinished Business

• Election of new president. Carl Leonard was only candidate. Approved by voice vote.
• Since Carl was Secretary, Stella Sundown was nominated (only candidate). Approved by voice vote.
• Lily Murphy re-elected as Treasurer, unopposed, by acclaim
• Linda Wehrell re-elected as Vice-President, unopposed, by acclaim
